Miley Cyrus has thrown her support behind a campaign to block a housing development in Australia which threatens to change the face of a picturesque coastal area where her boyfriend grew up.
The teenage pop star is dating Aussie actor Liam Hemsworth, who spent much of his childhood in Phillip Island in Victoria.
Environmental activists are currently fighting plans to build a housing estate on 23 acres of coastal farmland in the township of Ventnor, and Cyrus has now given her backing to the campaign.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, the singer/actress compares the fight to 1992 animated film FernGully: The Last Rainforest and urges fans to spread the word about the Phillip Island situation.
She writes, "Phillip Island is such a magical place, it would be a shame to see it change. Real life Fern Gully. www.facebook.com/Gpmob."
