Miley Cyrus' latest album Bangerz is available for streaming on iTunes, ahead of its official release on October 8th. Tragically for the increasingly bizarre starlet, the album has failed to impress critics. Bangerz has been described as "competent" but generally "mediocre" and "generic" (USA Today).

The album and many of its songs have prompted discussion as to how many of the tracks were inspired by Cyrus' recent split with former fiancé Liam Hemsworth. In an interview with Canada's Fashion Magazine, Cyrus stated 'Drive' was about her troubled relationship with the actor. Speaking to the magazine, she said "I wrote it while I was working on Valentine's Day, emotionally it was such a hard time." Cyrus further explained that the track was "about needing to leave someone but not really wanting to completely cut yourself off from the relationship. It's a time when you want to leave but you can't."

The majority of the tracks on the album have been discussed. E! appears to have linked each song to a specific moment in Cyrus' recent romantic life. For instance the lines "We were supposed to be together/Take me as I am or not/I can't breathe without you as mine/Oh darling stand by me" in 'My Darlin'' are specifically about Cyrus' relationship troubles with Hemsworth as opposed to a generic love song. 

Yet it is not just Cyrus' love life which is widely debated but her recent image alteration: from wholesome Disney star to tongue wielding, nipple tasselled horror. This is particularly evident in '4x4' where she announces "I'm a female rebel." 

Bangerz is due to be released on October 8th.
