Michelle Williams is certainly capturing the headlines this week, firstly scooping a top acting gong at the Golden Globes on Sunday (15 January, 2012) and then appearing on the cover of GQ magazine with a platinum blonde bob hairstyle and revealing lingerie.
Though in the accompanying interview, the Oscar-nominated actress spoke in-detail about a darker period in her life - her relationship with actor Heath Ledger and his shocking death in 2008. The pair had an off-on relationship, which resulted in one child, Matilda, though the media interest in the romance left Williams feeling "trapped", saying, "It was making me crazy. I felt like I was going crazy. It was too much - trying to deal with what had happened and trying to deal with what was at our doorstep. I just felt trapped". The actress, who plays Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe in the Oscar-tipped 'My Weekend with Marilyn', says she attempted to shield her daughter from the media glare, saying, ".Trying to find ways to explain it or shield her from it. It's like you're trying to go about your life, and make dinner...but the roof is off of your house, and the walls are falling down". Recalling her first meeting with Ledger, on the set of Brokeback Mountain, she explained, "Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something".
Though the actress often speaks of her close bond with daughter Matilda, she still longs for a reunion with Heath, describing it as "one of my favorite things to imagine".
