The man who masterminded Michael Jackson's ill-fated This Is It comeback has blamed the tragic pop superstar's own irresponsible behaviour for his 2009 death.

Kenny Ortega, who served as the show's director and producer, returned to the witness stand in Jackson's wrongful death trial on Thursday (08Aug13) and testified that no one else was at fault for the tragedy.

Ortega, who was called as a witness by AEG Live's defence lawyers, told the court that Jackson was in charge of everything in his life and made it clear that the singer's health was governed by himself and his personal physician Conrad Murray, who is currently serving time behind bars for administering the dose of anaesthetic propol that killed the King of Pop.

Recalling Jackson's obvious health issues throughout rehearsals, Ortega said, "I don't think he was being very responsible."

The pop superstar's mother Katherine Jackson and his three children are seeking to win billions from AEG Live executives, claiming they hired Murray to look after Jackson and put a money-spinning 50-date concert residency in London before her son's health and welfare.
