Michael Fassbender's performance in 'X-Men: Apocalypse' moved some crew members to tears.

The 38-year-old star has reprised the role of Magneto in the eagerly-awaited new movie in the franchise and director Bryan Singer has admitted to being blown away by his performance.

He shared: ''Fassbender does something in this movie ... We're at the end of the scene, and he asked me not to call cut and when the scene was over, he continued and did something that made me cry in the tent; I've never done that before. The head of my company grabbed a Kleenex. Simon Kinberg, the writer who has no emotions at all, actually became emotional.

''It was so beautiful, I've never seen an actor do this for me and [Fassbender] just took the scene to a whole other level. It's a heartbreaking scene, not a typical comic book movie scene at all - so let's hope it makes the cut.''

What's more, Bryan revealed the new movie will be longer than previous 'X-Men' films.

He confirmed: ''I think it's going to be a longer 'X-Men' movie.

''The 'X-Men' movies, I usually I keep under two hours. This one I may actually let be a longer movie because it's sort of a wrap-up of six movies. There's even an homage at the end.''
