Michael's actress mother Diana, Kirk's first wife, passed away on Friday (03Jul15) after a battle with cancer, but the Wall Street actor honoured his commitments for upcoming superhero movie Ant-Man and flew into the U.K. to begin promotional work this week (beg06Jul15).

During an appearance on U.K. morning show BBC Breakfast, Douglas was asked how his 98-year-old father is dealing with the tragedy and the actor assured the reporter that Kirk is okay.

He said, "He's fine. My father's 98, actually I saw him yesterday, he's very excited about all of this (movie), can't wait for him to see the picture and (he's) working on his 12th novel and is doing very well. My mother, bless her, she was 92 so I have good genes I guess, hopefully, so carry me on (sic)."

Kirk and Diana Douglas divorced in 1951.
