Diana Douglas, the first wife of the movie star's father Kirk, passed away at the Motion Picture and Television Hospital in Woodland Hills, California on Friday (03Jul15) after losing her battle with cancer.

Her husband, Donald Webster, tells NBC News she was admitted to the hospital last month (Jun15).

Diana Douglas appeared in TV shows Dallas, ER and The West Wing and in the film Planes Trains and Automobiles. She also performed on Broadway.

Born Diana Dill in Bermuda, she wed Kirk Douglas in 1943. The couple had two sons, Michael and Joel, before divorcing in 1951. She went on to marry writer and producer Bill Darrid in 1956 until he died in 1992. She wed Webster in 2002.

Her last acting credit was It Runs in The Family, in which she co-starred with Kirk, Michael and her grandson Cameron Douglas.
