Brave Michael Douglas opted to tell his young children all about his cancer treatment so they would understand what daddy was going through.
Rather than keep his health crisis from seven-year-old Cerys and Dylan, 10, the movie star not only told them about his battle, but took them to early treatments.
In a candid new TV interview, taped for America's Today show and Dateline NBC to celebrate the news he has beaten cancer, Douglas explains his kids were fascinated by their trips to the hospital.
He says, "I took them down to a couple of radiation treatments. So they came into the room and they saw all the Star Wars treatment going around. And they saw them put the mask on your face because they have to kind of bolt you down, like Hannibal Lecter.
"At that age it was good for them. I mean, they thought it was cool, you know, all this space age stuff. So it made up for all those days when dad was lying on the couch and couldn't get up."
In the interview Douglas reveals his tumour is gone and barring any surprises in the coming months, he has beaten the killer disease.
