Former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted is a married man after exchanging vows with his longtime girlfriend.

The rocker wed Nicole Leigh Smith last month (Oct12), according to music website Blabbermouth.net.

The new bride gushes, "(Jason is) a fantastically talented guy, and I'm happy to be taking on his last name."

No further details of the nuptials were available as Wenn went to press.
