The 44 year-old actor spoke to the college football team about challenging yourself to become as successful as possible.
Matthew McConaughey, who is a huge Texas Longhorns football fan, recently visited his old alma mater, the University of Texas, to give the college team a motivational speech on what he thinks it takes to become successful.

In a very philosophical manner, the Oscar-winning actor first told the players to ask themselves, "man, when you look in the mirror tonight, just say, 'Why do I play this game?'"
As the college athletes took a knee and listened to McConaughey pass his wisdom along, the Hollywood star shared how he eventually reached the top of the movie industry.
"Some of you may play because you love football," he said. "Some of you may play for your grandmother. Some of you may play for your older brother, your dad. Some of you may play for the coaches. Some of you may play for the university. At the end of the day every single one of you has really only got to be playing for one person."
"I've found that when I've done my best work as an actor, it was only when I pushed myself to be better than I ever thought I could be," he continued. "And I have a pretty high idea of how good I can be."

McConaughey challenging himself to reach feats that he previously thought were out of his grasp is the main reason for how great he has become as an actor, which peaked at this year's Academy-Awards when he won the Oscar for Best Actor for his 2013 performance in 'Dallas Buyers Club.'
"It gets a whole lot more fun," he said. "Cause when you do well you feel it and you look in the mirror and say 'That's right, I earned that.'"
