Matt Damon returning as Jason Bourne? We thought we’d never see the day. Indeed, the actor has confirmed that he will reprise his iconic role as the agent with a vendetta and a mysterious past for the next Bourne movie. Yes, everything is alright, the world is at peace again.

Damon’s pal and collaborator Ben Affleck let the news slip during a recent interview with E! News. The connection: Affleck and Damon were being interviewed about their resurrected passion project, Project Greenlight. The show, set to air again on HBO, follows aspiring filmmakers as they get the chance to work on their first very own feature film.

Talking to E!, Affleck was in the midst of praising his friend and collaborator’s impressive physique, when he dropped the casting announcement – completely accidentally, of course.

"Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So….," Affleck told E! News exclusively.

That sounded absolutely natural and spontaneous, right? No need to answer that, actually. 

"Yes, next year," Damon responded to E! News when asked for clarification. "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

So, yes. Catch Project Greenlight on HBO or something. More importantly, can we get three cheers for the return of Jason Bourne?
