Mark Ronson has made his new album Uptown Special available online in full, a week ahead of its physical release. The producer has already scored a smash-hit with first single Uptown Funk and by the sounds of the new record, he appears to have more where that came from.

The chart-topper is now streaming Uptown Special - his fourth record - over at The Guardian, where he's also penned a track-by-track guide explaining the provenance and recording process of each song.

"This came out of a jam in Bruno Mars' studio in LA," he said of his number-one single with Bruno Mars, "He was on drums, Jeff on synths, me on bass. We got the basic groove and, with Phil Smeeze joining in, we wrote the lyrics to the first verse. Six months later we finished the song in Toronto. Bruno's a good drummer."

As well as Mars, Ronson enlisted a slew of grade-A talent for the record, including Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, rapper Mystikal, novelist Michael Chabon and Stevie Wonder.

On another track, Leaving Los Feliz, Ronson explained, "Los Feliz is an artsy/hipster/musician-y area of Los Angeles. This song is about an ageing hipster who doesn't want to admit that he's too old to still be going to the party. It's not semi-autobiographical at all. At all."
