The pink satin gown Marilyn Monroe wore to perform DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES has sold for more than $300,000 (£200,000).
The gown, dubbed "the most important film dress to ever come to auction" was the star lot at the Profiles in History sale in Los Angeles over the weekend (12-13Jun10), and sold for approximately $319,500 (£213,000) - well over its predicted price of $255,000 (£170,000).
The Wicked Witch of the West's hat from The Wizard of Oz fetched a massive $206,130 (£137,420), while Julie Andrews' carpet bag from Mary Poppins garnered a top bid of $97,911 (£65,274).
Johnny Depp's bladed gloves from Edward Scissorhands and his Jack Sparrow jacket from the Pirates of the Caribbean movies went for a combined total of $46,878 (£31,252), while a gilded cup from Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade sold for $16,490 (£10,993).
