The French designer is due to take over from Marc Jacobs after his 16-year tenure at the helm of the luxury brand, if the rumours reported by New York Magazine are to be believed.
The former Balenciaga star - who is being sued by the fashion house's owner, Kering, for breach of confidentiality after criticising its management in an interview - is thought to have been the frontrunner for a while, but the news has yet to be confirmed.
A spokesperson for luxury conglomerate LVMH told WWD that ''nothing has been decided'', while fashion journalists from the Financial Times have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts on the denial.

Jacobs announced he would be leaving Louis Vuitton during Paris Fashion Week last Wednesday (02.10.13) in order to focus on his eponymous brand.
