Automnsong
Single Review
After solo projects from Nicky Wire and James Dean Bradfield, Manic Street Preachers are back and are set to release their second single off their Send The Tigers Away album. The one thing that can be said about the Manic Street Preachers and that is they have always kept true to their music. You could maybe argue that they have mellowed out a bit, but it does seem that that comes with age, unless you are in The Rolling Stones that is.
James Dean Bradfield simply has the gift of the gab when it comes to telling stories through the bands songs. He just seems to have one of those voices that get you hooked straight away. The thing about bands such as Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics or even Oasis is that everyone wants the new stuff to sound like the first album. It's just not going to happen, these bands evolve and grow and well some of them mature out a bit. That's not say that the new stuff is not good it is just different.
With Automnsong gives you the feeling that the volume button was broke during recording apart from on the vocals. There are some quality guitar riffs but when listening to the song it is as if you are leaning forward to try and hear catch everything while listening. James Dean naturally gives off a faultless vocal display that we all expect which he doesn't disappoint. Manic Street Preachers just seem to get on with no matter what and fair play to them.
