Madonna has refused to have her arms and stomach airbrushed.

The 56-year-old singer - who was recently unveiled as the face of Versace's spring/summer collection 2015 - agreed to star in the campaign when she was assured her toned abdomen and arms wouldn't be digitally altered.

The brand's creative director, Donatella Versace, told Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera: ''She did not have her abdomen or arms retouched.''

The pop star - who has Lourdes, 18, Rocco, 14, and adopted Malawian children David Banda, nine and Mercy James, eight - also insisted that her wage be donated to her charity, Raising Malawi, which is currently building a paediatric surgery and intensive care unit for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in the capital Lilongwe.

Donatella said: ''I think of Madonna and her hospital in Malawi. Which is where the remuneration from our campaign will be going.''

Despite her conditions for starring in the adverts, the 59-year-old fashion designer confessed that Madonna was easier to work with than fellow singer Lady GaGa, who starred in the brand's Spring 2014 campaign.

She said: ''With Lady Gaga [it] was a bit more complicated.

''She focuses on transformation and charisma and risks for this, always. So the final approval of the photo was a melee. But Madonna, absolutely not. I did believe that there were only the set and the filters and the rest. Then, she did everything in the studio in New York.''

The collaboration is the fourth time the 'Like A Virgin' hitmaker has fronted a campaign for the luxury label.
