Lucy Hale is a fan of little black dresses.

The 'Pretty Little Liars' actress says her go-to evening attire is a black dress paired with a slick of red lipstick because the sexy look is so empowering.

She told the new issue of People StyleWatch magazine: ''I think there is something so great about an LBD. Black is my favorite color.

''I think everyone looks amazing in it, and I think every woman has that one black dress they feel confident in. And you can't go wrong adding a red lip.''

Lucy is known for her boho style as Aria Montgomery in the hit TV show, but in real life the star prefers to keep it simple and updates her outfits with statement accessories.

She said: ''I think in life I'm pretty casual. I'm 24 now and I think I've come into my own. I work with basic pieces and make them my own. Like right now, I'm wearing skinny jeans and a tee, but I've added a vest and studded boots.

''It's wearing everyday pieces that everyone has and adding accessories to make them my own. When I'm at events or on the show or on the carpet, I love a great dress and heels, but every day, I live in jeans.''
