Louis Tomlinson has broken his Twitter silence to thank fans for their support.

It was recently revealed that the One Direction singer is set to become a first time dad after a brief fling with stylist Briana Jungwirth and although Louis has yet to directly address the news, he posted a series of tweets praising the group's ''incredible fan base''.

To celebrate five years since One Direction was formed on 'The X Factor', Louis, 23, wrote: ''Every single day we are thankful for the platform that you incredible people gave us. What an amazing 5 years it's been!!

''You have been by far the most incredible fanbase and nothing you do goes unnoticed. We are so lucky to have you guys! Thanks so much :)

''Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you.

''My attempt of expressing how thankful we are for you guys! (sic).''

This is only the second time Louis has tweeted since it was revealed that Briana, 23, is expecting his child.

Following the group's concert in Seattle on July 15, he wrote: ''Amazing show! Thank you for the support!! (sic).''

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Louis called a ''crisis meeting'' with One Direction after learning he was to be a father.

After learning his ex-lover was pregnant, he was quick to reassure bandmates Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan that he is still committed to the group.

An unnamed family member of one of the band said: ''He assured them he wasn't going anywhere and he's totally committed to 1D.''
