Not everyone had a fabulous time at last night's Oscars.
Liza Minnelli didn't have exactly the best time at last night's Oscars. As one of Hollywood's biggest veteran stars, the actress didn't receive the respect that a performer of her calibre would deserve. From being the target of a mean zing from Ellen Degeneres, to having her outfit mocked in the media and being laughed at for not being able to reach into the famous 'Oscars Selfie' in time, Liza could have had a nicer evening at home.
Liza Minnelli Hasn't Been Treated So Kindly In The Wake Of The Oscars.
The glamorous awards evening started on the red carpet where Liza, the daughter of Judy Garland, debuted a striking new streak of blue in her black hair and wore a matching silky pantsuit with dramatic diamond jewellery. As the snaps of Minnelli hit the internet, commenters began to point out and mock the fact that the actress probably wasn't wearing a bra under her slinky suit.
Some likened her daring new hairdo to the likes of pop star Katy Perry, saying that looking at Liza could be like looking at Perry in forty years' time. Liza was attending the Academy Awards for the show's tribute to her late mother's The Wizard of Oz but the evening proved to be more hassle than it was worth.
Ellen DeGeneres Playfully Made Liza The Butt Of An Opening Speech Joke.
The 67 year-old was given another bashing my Oscars host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres in her opening speech. The sunny and funny DeGeneres was picked to host this year to soothe the wound left by last year's host Seth Macfarlane who appalled many with his unfunny and bad-taste jokes. However, Liza was one of the few who received a nasty zing from the apparently well-meaning host.
"And I have to say one of the most amazing Liza Minnelli impersonators I have seen in my entire life," DeGeneres said to the audience's amusement. "Just really, seriously," the host added. "Good job, sir." The audience exploded into laughter, including Liza's companion but the Cabaret star squirmed and scowled uncomfortably in the face of such mockery.

The final blow came when Ellen assembled an almighty A-list crew for an impromptu selfie. Jared Leto, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie, Kevin Spacey, Lupita and Peter Nyong'o, Meryl Streep, Bradley Cooper, Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lawrence all quickly bunched into the shot, which has been shared a record-breaking number of times on Twitter.
However, a photo taken by Wall Street Journal reporter Ben Fritz shows the group photo gathering from behind with one short star who couldn't quite get in the shot. The photo shows Liza scrambling to get into the photo but being obstructed by the taller stars. The original selfie crashed Twitter with over 1.2 million retweets within the first hour but the forlorn shot of Liza has also been shared by those keen to laugh at the singer and actress.
The 67 Year-Old Star Ended Her Evening On A High Note.
Luckily, it seems that Minnelli managed to end her evening on a high note by making up with the cheeky host. Ellen posted another shot of the pair huddled up together with the heart-warming caption "#Besties #Oscars2014."
