Lindsay Lohan was left in tears after rowing with her rumoured boyfriend Mathia Milani in the street.

The couple were seen in the midst of a very public dispute in Milan, Italy, with the 'Mean Girls' actress welling up as she argued with the businessman.

At one point the 28-year-old star was seen grabbing onto her Italian beau's arm as he tried to make his getaway outside La Risacca 6 restaurant, reports The Sun newspaper.

Lindsay - who is yet to confirm she is in a relationship with Mathia - was later seen smoking a cigarette and being comforted by a pal before drying her eyes and heading home.

The pair were first spotted together last month as they headed into a flat in London.

The argument comes in the wake of a difficult month for Lindsay after her stepmother was arrested for attacking her father Michael.

Kate Major Lohan was taken into police custody after she reportedly got into an alcohol-fuelled altercation with Michael at their home in Palm Beach, Florida.

But the actress' father blames her mother and his ex-wife, Dina Lohan, for the dispute because she is suing him for $16,000 in back child support payments.

The showbiz patriarch has been banned from leaving the US and had his driving license suspended until he hands over the money to the mother of his four oldest children, Lindsay, Michael Jr., 27, singer-and-actress Ali, 21, and 18-year-old Cody.

Meanwhile, tensions were also said to be running high between Lindsay and her mother Dina after it was reported she had been selling her daughter's belongings - including clothing, furniture, and artwork - on the Internet and directly to friends without her permission.
