Of all the Hollywood names who made an appearance on Lindsay Lohan’s infamous ‘sex ‘list’, James Franco seems to be the one most willing to talk about it. At first Franco flat out denied that he’d slept with Lindsay, but now he’s told Howard Stern that the pair did ‘make out’ in 2004 and has branded the actress delusional. There seems to be so many pieces to this particular Hollywood puzzle, but as far as we know, what is the real story between Lindsay and James?

Speaking on Howard Stern’s Wednesday show, Franco discussed his appearance on Lindsay’s notorious list saying “I will swear on my mother’s life that I never had sex with her.’’ However he also confessed that the pair did ‘make out’ saying, “All right, we maybe kissed… it was lame. I can’t believe she put me on that private list, she’s so delusional!’’ Lindsay’s ‘delusions’ appear to have come from an incident in 2004 when the pair met in New York where James was filming Spider-Man 2. Franco explained that he considered Lindsay, who would have been 17 at the time, too young saying, “it was also like, "What the hell am I doing?" She was young.’’

A month ago, when the list was first made public, Franco was quick to deny that anything had happened between himself and Lohan. When promoting his poetry book, Directing Herbert White, which coincidently contains a poem about Lohan, Franco said “Lindsay herself has told lies about me with her people-she's-slept-with list!” Adding that anything he might have written about the star was “much less than what she said”.

Lindsay’s ‘sex-list’ isn’t the first time that her name has been linked with Franco. Last year Franco also appeared on Howard Stern’s show (he really must have an invested interested in these two) where he was asked about Lohan. In his own style, Stern asked Franco about the Lohan rumours saying “'You turned down sex with Lindsay Lohan, didn't you?” Franco answered with, “'Oh, gosh. Poor Lindsay. I haven't talked to her in a while... We were friends.” He added that the incident happened at the Chateau Marmont where Franco had been staying and Lohan was living. He later said, “She was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that.’’

The incident that Franco alluded to last year at the Chateau Marmont might be the same one that he developed further on during his Stern appearance this week. Franco said that in 2007 at the Chateau Marmont Lindsay made it “'pretty damn clear that she liked” the actor. Even saying that she once broke into his room, explaining that he was on the couch and when he opened his eyes Lindsay was in his room at 3am.

So what’s the real story between Franco and Lohan? Well from the picture Franco paints it seems to be one of unrequited lust. But interestingly, in 2011 when Lindsay was vying for a role opposite Franco in Oz the Great and Powerful she said ‘'I'll only do the movie if I can work with James. We're like best friends. We're hanging out later.’’ The problem now is, other than the leaked list, Lindsay hasn't had a chance yet to give her side of the story with Franco. Until she does lets give Lohan the benefit of the doubt before we rush to judgement.
