Police have raided Lil Wayne’s Miami Beach mansion to seize property in relation to a civil lawsuit, an announcement by local police enforcement has confirmed.
TMZ first reported on Tuesday (November 3rd) that authorities had descended upon the rapper’s $4 million property as part of a lawsuit in which he owes more than $2 million to a private jet leasing company called Signature Group. Two months ago, he lost a court battle in which Signature claimed he had stopped paying $55,000 per month lease.

According to court documents, on September 30th a Miami judge granted a request for police to enter the property and seize materials equivalent to that amount, also known as a “break order”, as he has incurred a number of late fees and court costs.
At around 3pm on Tuesday, police carried out their warrant, reportedly seizing items from the 33 year old’s $30 million art collection, which were carried from the house and were bundled into trucks, according to local news station Sky 10. The incident was captured by news helicopters.

Police officers were apparently denied entry at the gates to the property by security guards, but they then produced the document which gave them the right to break the locks to gain access to the home.
The rapper, whose real name is Dwayne Carter Jr., has been in trouble with the law before. In 2010, he served eight months in jail after he pleaded guilty to second-degree weapons possession in 2007, and the same year he was also falsely accused by authorities in Georgia of possession of a controlled substance.
