Fire! 1D's Heroic Liam Payne Escapes With Life In London Flat Blaze

One Direction's Liam Payne is lucky to be alive after he escaped being burned to death in a London flat fire in a terrifying blaze that started on the luxury apartment's balcony, Sky News reports.

Liam Escaped Unscathed After A Fire Broke Out.

The singer was on the 34th floor of an upmarket Docklands block of residences when a mysterious fire broke out. According to fire-fighting personnel who rushed to the scene, "Firefighters worked quickly and professionally to get the fire under control as quickly as possible. Around 30 people left the building before we arrived and were not injured. Two of the occupants had superficial burns to their hands and the third had burns to his hands and face. All three have been taken to hospital," the spokesperson said.

To tackle the blaze, a reported six fire engines and 35 firefighters raced to the scene and thankfully no one was killed. Of the two men and one woman taken to hospital with their injuries, 1D fans have named one of the men as Payne's friend Andy Samuels who apparently suffered second degree burns to his hands and face.

Luckily, No One Was Seriously Hurt Or Killed In The Blaze.

Though the fire's cause is still unreported, accounts of some kind of explosion are described by the Mirror; a balcony blast that started an inferno. Early speculation suggests that Samuels was filling up a patio heater with gas when events took a dangerous turn. Payne is thought to have pulled his close friend from the balcony seconds after the explosion and effectively saved Samuels' life.

That Liam would jump to his close friends' aid so coolly echoes his now widely tweeted wish that had he not been a singer, Payne would have like to have been a firefighter. In the latest One Direction documentary making waves at box offices across the world, This Is Us, Liam reveals his former ambitions to his bandmate, Harry Styles, whilst the pair are fishing together. When Styles asks why, Payne replies that he "likes the idea of saving someone."
