Liam Neeson may have a bit of a reputation as a tough man, but this is getting ridiculous. The Irish actor was answering questions about his forthcoming role in the upcoming thriller 'The Grey' which sees him star as one of a crew of oil drilling men left stranded in Alaska and forced to fend for themselves in the wild with a pack of wolves hunting them.
If Neeson's character is anything like the veteran actor however then he'd no need to be afraid of the animals, indeed thoughts of dinner might start his mind as the 59 year-old claimed at a press talk that he'd been toughening for his role by eating wolf meat. "[Wolf jerky] was quite nice," E! Online reports the star as saying to the assembled media to audible surprise. However he was quickly contradicted by his director Joe Carnahan who said most members "got physically ill" after eating the dog. "It was a mental reaction," he added with the wolf having been "frozen for months."
Indeed other things to gather from the question time was that Neeson wasn't so much focusing on his acting during filming, just fighting to survive in temperatures 37 degrees below Celsius was helping more than enough with any attempts to get into the character of a man trying to survive in frozen Alaska. The Grey is out on Janaury 27th 2012.
