Liam Gallagher's child support battle is heading to trial after he failed to show up for another hearing in New York.

The former Oasis rocker was recently fined $5,000 (£3,125) by a judge for failing to appear at a number of hearings relating to his legal tussle with journalist Liza Ghorbani, the mother of his love child.

His lawyer insisted the star had been too "depressed" to travel to New York, but Gallagher missed another hearing earlier this month (Feb15) and now the case is heading to trial.

If Gallagher fails to show up for the trial when it kicks off on 20 March (15), Ghorbani could win a default judgement.

Her lawyer, Ira Garr, tells New York Post gossip column Page Six, "Based on his failure to attend any court hearings and his failure to comply with the discovery process, we assume he won't show up for the trial. We will ask for whatever (settlement) we ask for and we'll get a default judgement. It is always the same excuse, 'He's too sick to travel.'"

Gallagher's marriage to pop star Nicole Appleton broke down after it was revealed he had fathered a daughter, Gemma, with Ghorbani, and they are in the process of divorcing.

The rocker is also reeling from the recent split of his post-Oasis band Beady Eye.
