Sometimes you can't help but wonder where on earth these rumours come from, especially ones as crazy as this. But just in case you believed this one, let us clear it up for you: Leonardo Dicaprio was absolutely not raped by a bear in his new film 'The Revenant'.

Alejandro González Iñárritu and Leonardo DiCaprio on set of 'The Revenant''So, Leo, you're going to get sexually attacked by this bear...' said no-one ever

When you watch a film showing a man being viciously mauled by a massive carnivorous beast, it's unlikely that your first thought is going to be: 'Must be mating season'. According to reporters at Drudge Report, however, that's the normal assumption to make. The media outlet published an article yesterday (December 1st 2015) unambiguously claiming that the sexual assault on DiCaprio's character Hugh Glass most certainly took place.

'The bear flips Leo over and thrusts and thrusts during the explicit mauling', the piece read, accompanied by the uncited quotation 'He is raped -- twice!' Now, this won't just come as a surprise to those who have actually seen the film and saw no such thing, but also to those familiar with the real story of the fur trapper and frontiersman in the 17th century. History certainly never expressed such grisly detail before, so why would director Alejandro González Iñárritu include such a thing?

Well, he didn't. Obviously. 'As anyone who has seen the movie can attest, the bear in the film is a female who attacks Hugh Glass because she feels he might be threatening her cubs', a spokesperson for Fox told Entertainment Weekly, just in case the sensible people of the world had any doubt. 'There is clearly no rape scene with a bear.'

And, if you were wondering, co-stars Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter equally suffer no such sexual violence during the course of the movie. Glad that's been cleared up.

'The Revenant' is set for release on December 25th 2015.
