DiCaprio raised his eyebrows in surprise as Gaga knocked his elbow on the way up to receive her Golden Globe, and the internet promptly fell about laughing.
Leonardo Dicaprio has expressed embarrassment after the hilarious footage of his reaction as Lady GaGa barged past him at the Golden Globes went viral.
When the pop star, who was awarded for her role in ‘American Horror Story’ with the Best Supporting TV Actress prize at the ceremony on Sunday night (January 10th), went from her table to the stage to collect her trophy, she accidentally bumped into DiCaprio’s elbow which was hanging over his seat as he was speaking to one of his companions.
Leonardo DiCaprio's reaction to being barged by Lady Gaga broke the internet
As DiCaprio looked at the retreating figure of Gaga’s back to see what had knocked him, his eyebrows raised in a startled expression for a split second, eagle-eyed TV viewers noticed it and promptly broke the internet with vines and gifs.
But backstage later, The Revenant star was pretty surprised and embarrassed that his unconscious reaction had made such an impact. “Oh lord - that’s trending, huh?” he told Entertainment Tonight later on in the evening. “I just didn’t know what was passing me. That’s all!”

Gaga seemed surprised and a bit lost in her own thoughts, in fairness, as she walked up to collect her trophy, and seemingly didn’t notice that she had ploughed into DiCaprio’s elbow on the way up. “This is one of the greatest moments in my life,” the 29 year old singer said as she accepted the award. “I just have to thank Ryan Murphy, Thank you to my wonderful cast. You are my family. I could name the entire cast and because of you I was able to shine.”

41 year old DiCaprio, meanwhile, won Best Actor in a Drama for Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s The Revenant, which picked up the trophies for Best Picture and Best Director as well. This stands the movie in good stead as awards season really hots up, with the Oscars a little over a month away.
“This is a type of film that you won’t see coming out of the Hollywood studio system very often,” DiCaprio said. “It’s an epic art film and I’m just so happy it got recognized tonight.”
