Leah Remini threatened to contact police after being intimidated by Scientology members for questioning the whereabouts of Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly.
Leah Remini threatened to call police after she was interrogated by Scientology members.
The 'King of Queens' actress was allegedly called in for questioning by former Scientology Celebrity Centre head Tom Davis for asking where church leader David Miscavige's wife Shelly - who hasn't been seen in public since 2007 - was during Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' wedding in 2006.
A source said: '''When you ask a question, like, 'Where is Shelly?,' you are immediately hauled in, interrogated and asked, 'Why are you asking, who are you connected to, are you going on the Internet?' ''
''Because Leah threatened to call the police to find Shelly, she was put through 'Security Checking,' her family was put through it, and her friends.''
According to the New York Post newspaper, the 43-year-old actress was subjected to five years of ''thought modification'' over her comment and when the church tried to repeat the process this year she made the decision to quit the sci-fi cult.
Remini - who also questioned the behaviour of the Sea Organisation sect within the church - released a statement last night (11.07.13), saying: ''I wish to share my sincere and heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming positive response I have received from the media, my colleagues, and fans from around the world. I am truly grateful and thankful for all your support.''
Earlier this week, a source said: ''It all began when Leah questioned the validity of excommunication of people.
''She is stepping back from a regime she thinks is corrupt. She thinks no religion should tear apart a family or abuse someone under the umbrella of 'religion.' ''
The Church of Scientology was founded by American science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard who claimed that extra terrestrial beings were sent to planet Earth by intergalactic ruler Xenu, who then blew up the aliens with hydrogen bombs in a volcano.
These aliens' souls then attached themselves to humans and cause problems that affect the happiness of individuals.
