Lana Del Rey is used to dealing with hate by now, but wanted to set the record straight on this one thing.
Lana Del Rey is no stranger to vicious rumours, but she definitely did not sleep her way to the top. And she’s actually quite upset about that, the Ultraviolence songstress shared in an interview recently. Despite the fact that her new album contains a song called F****d My Way To The Top, it was made just for a laugh, apparently. Del Rey has given plenty of uber-serious (and some outright worrying) interviews in the past. This was not one of them.
Lana Del Rey was not an overnight success.
"You know, I have slept with a lot of guys in the industry, but none of them helped me get my record deals," the 29-year-old told Complex magazine for its August/September issue.
"Which is annoying."

Leave it to Lana to get all cryptic and ambiguous on us. As for the song, the message is actually pretty self-explanatory. F****d My Way To The Top is all about people’s opinions. Del Rey knows what people are saying. And she doesn’t care. Or she cares just enough to make a song about it. Something along those lines.
And Del Rey (real name Lizzy Grant) has been dealing with what people think of her for a while now. Witness the reception of her 2012 performance on "Saturday Night Live" as a landmark example.
"The good thing about catching so much grief from critics is that you literally do not ... care," she told the magazine. She also said a bunch of other things, but as usual, most media outlets are fixated on the sex-related quote. If you’re interested, Lana also misses her Brooklyn home base and thinks continuity is important across her records and public image.
Since her highly ridiculed 2012 SNL performance, Del Rey has grown a much thicker skin.
