Lana Del Rey Splits With Boyfriend & Angers Frances Bean Cobain

It's not been a good week for Lana Del Rey. The Ultraviolence artist has separated from Scottish singer Barrie James O'Neill and has been seriously chastised by Frances Bean Cobain owing to Del Rey's comments about her father's death.

Barrie James O'Neill and Lana Del Rey have split after nearly three years together.

Del Rey announced her separation from O'Neill in a recent interview with Switzerland's 20 Minuten magazine, published on Monday (23rd June). Responding to a question about the possibility of an engagement, 28-year-old Del Rey said "We are currently not together." She continued to vaguely explain the reasons behind their split which apparently result from O'Neill's unspecified issues. She said "He is a wonderful person. But there are some things which he has to deal with. I will not explain in detail. This was hard on our relationship, I no longer felt free."

Despite the end of her close to three year relationship with O'Neill, Del Rey is still optimistic about her romantic future. When asked by the magazine if she would like she get married, she said "I'd love to. And I would like to have children. Hopefully it'll work out sometime."

This isn't the first time Del Rey's comments have landed her in hot water.

Meanwhile Del Rey has been under fire from Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of the late Kurt Cobain. Cobain's comments, posted on Twitter, were in response to Del Rey's interview in the Guardian. Del Rey allegedly said "I wish I was dead already," referencing two of her idols Kurt Cobain and Amy Winehouse.

Cobain wrote three tweets claiming Del Rey was "glamorising" dying young and reminding her followers of her own person tragedy. Cobain was merely two when her father tragically died aged in 1994. She later tweeted less aggressively, writing "I'm not attacking anyone. I have no animosity towards Lana, I was just trying to put things in perspective from personal experience."
