The song is set to feature on her mysterious next album.
Lady GaGa has premiered her brand new single 'Perfect Illusion' yesterday (September 8th 2016), though we're still very short on the details of her forthcoming fifth studio album. The pop diva first teased the new track via Instagram mid-August, and now it's finally here.
Lady Gaga unveils 'Perfect Illusion'
'Perfect Illusion' is her first album single in two years and will feature on her currently untitled fifth album, which is expected to be released later this year. It takes Gaga into a whole new direction sound-wise; there's an edgy rock feel to this dynamic anthem and it feels a world away from her last solo venture, 2013's 'Artpop'.
The song has been co-produced by Gaga, Mark Ronson, Bloodpop and Kevin Parker from Tame Impala, while Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme supplied guitar. It seems that Gaga is really favouring the strings right now, and even learned to play herself just for the new album.
'She's never played guitar in public before but guitar is something she's learning for this record', Mark Ronson told Rolling Stone. 'That side of her, I don't think a lot of the world has seen. It's really great to make this very honest, authentic, kind of analog record with her.' Ronson previously worked with Gaga on his 2015 album 'Uptown Special'.
Lady Gaga's last album was 2014's 'Cheek To Cheek' on which she collaborated with veteran crooner Tony Bennett, singing pop standards the likes of 'I Can't Give You Anything but Love' and 'Anything Goes'. The album reached number one in the US, marking the second time Bennett has topped Billboard charts with the first being for 2011's 'Duets II'.

'Perfect Illusion' was recorded at the famous Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California and follows her last single, 'Til It Happens to You'; the Academy Award nominated soundtrack song from harrowing college sexual assault documentary 'The Hunting Ground'.
While we don't know when Lady Gaga is planning to drop her next album, you'll definitely see this Golden Globe winner in the upcoming sixth season of 'American Horror Story', coming September 14th 2016.
