'Applause' hitmaker Lady GaGa has been blasted by animal charities including PETA after she posted photos on Instagram showing her pet dog wearing a heavy necklace.
Lady GaGa has been blasted by PETA for dressing up her dog.
The 'Applause' hitmaker has come under heavy criticism from the animal charity for her treatment of pet pooch Asia, who has been seen wearing weighty jewellery and earrings.
PETA said: ''Lady Gaga may choose to decorate herself with elaborate and even uncomfortable outfits, but Asia doesn't get to make that choice.
''Although it seems pretty clear that Lady Gaga loves Asia, we think Asia - and all dogs - are adorable without all the added flair.''
Their comments come after the 28-year-old pop star - famous for her extravagant and outrageous style - posted photos on Instagram which showed the pup wearing a heavy necklace on its face.
PETA have been joined by other animal rights groups in criticising Gaga for her actions.
Dog's Trust veterinary director Paula Boyden added: ''We are shocked to see the pictures of his puppy adorned with heavy jewellery.
''Dressing dogs in pseudo-human clothing not only ridicules and makes a spectacle of them but treats them as a fashion accessory rather than a living animal.''
