Kylie Minogue's Bollywood debut has been panned by Indian critics who have slammed the star's performance.
The Spinning Around singer became the highest-paid foreign celebrity in Bollywood history when she pocketed more than $1 million (£670,000) for performing a song in Blue, the most expensive Indian picture ever made.
Movie bosses were hoping the singer's appearance would help it appeal to western audiences, but Minogue's performance failed to impress critics in India when it hit the nation's big screens on Friday (16Oct09).
Critics branded the film "idiotic" and claimed the Australian star failed to "sizzle" during her song and dance number, suggesting the pop star is "as sexy as a fat housewife in a kaftan".
One critic called Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman's score "strictly average," adding Kyle Minogue "can't save this film from reaching its watery grave."
