Children In Need will take place under the dark shadow of the BBC's recent troubles; namely the controversy surrounding Jimmy Savile, the documentary that never was, and most recently, the false accusation of Lord McAlpine in a separate child abuse case.
But tonight, Friday November 16th, The BBC will launch into its annual philanthropic event in aid of the most vulnerable children both in the U.K and abroad. Although, the proceedings couldn't have come at a worse time, as trust in the BBC is at an all time low, and people will be hesitant in giving money to an organisation that allegedly turned a blind eye to years of systematic child abuse. Besides, giving money once a year won't solve the problems of child poverty, abuse and famine. Got a little serious there! On a lighter note, good old Kylie Minogue will be reprising her classics and belting out the hits for the show, which will be presented by Sir Terry Wogan (as always). The show will also feature the likes of Fearne Cotton, Tess Daly and Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw in a push to match last year's record on-the-night total of #26 million.
It also wouldn't be a real British event if Team GB's Olympic and Paralympic heroes didn' get involved, but thankfully, the likes of Tom Daley, Rebecca Adlington, Louis Smith and Ellie Simmonds will all be dancing in a music video.
