Kris Jenner wants Jennifer Lawrence to date her son Rob Kardashian.

The showbiz matriarch has befriended the 'Silver Linings Playbook' actress after making a surprise appearance at her birthday party, and suggested the 25-year-old star visit her at home so she could meet her only male offspring, who has retreated from the public eye while he battles with his weight.

A source said: ''Rob wasn't happy with Kris - he's not ready to date and wants to lose more weight before being pictured in public but it's classic Kris.''

However, it seems Kris' efforts may not have been in vain as Jennifer - who has been single since splitting from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin - got along well with the 28-year-old sock designer.

The source added to heat magazine: ''It was set up but they hit it off. Rob's funny and Jen's hilarious.''

The 'X-Men' actress - who is a huge 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' fan - recently admitted she almost ''passed out'' when she saw the surprise guest at her birthday party.

She said: ''My knees buckled. I fell. Seriously! It was the closest I've ever come to losing consciousness. I had NO IDEA. I'd never met her before, but we've always watched 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians.'''
