Kris Jenner refers to her former spouse as simply 'Jenner' because she can't get used to calling her Caitlyn, following her gender transition and change of identity from Bruce.
Kris Jenner can't call Caitlyn Jenner by her new name.
The 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians' star admits she finds it hard to refer to her ex-husband - who was known as Bruce Jenner before her gender transition - by the moniker she chose for herself, so addresses her by her surname instead.
Asked if she is able to address her former spouse as 'Caitlyn', she said: ''No. I say 'Jenner'.''
The 59-year-old matriarch admit the changes Caitlyn has undergone have been ''really, really'' hard for her family to deal with, but she has learned from the experience.
She told 'Access Hollywood': ''It's hard, you know, it's really, really hard. What I have realised in all of this is that everyone handles stuff a different way. No matter what it is, you know. We're all people. We all have different emotions.''
And despite their problems, the former couple are growing close again as Kris is ''getting to know'' Caitlyn - with whom she has her two youngest children, Kendall, 19, and 18-year-old Kylie - and discovering how she is different to Bruce.
She admitted: ''I just thought she would be a little bit different.
''Bruce had a distinct personality and, you know, had definite characteristics. And Caitlyn has some different ones, I feel.''
Asked if she could ever be ''great friends'' and ''curl up on the couch'' with Caitlyn, she added: ''I don't know about curl up on the couch, but she came over for a drink last night. And that was nice.''
