While Jon Snow’s fate on ‘Game of Thrones’ was a closely guarded secret until season six episode two aired earlier this month, it seems actor Kit Harington was sometimes willing to spill the beans, if it got him out of trouble and a speeding ticket.

Appearing on 'The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon', Harington told the late night host that he did actually reveal the fate of Jon Snow to a police officer, as a way to get him out of a parking ticket.

"This policeman comes up and pulls me over,” Harington explained. “And he said, 'Look, there is two ways we can do this. You can either follow me back to the police station now and I book you in, or you can tell me whether you live in the next series of Game of Thrones’."

"So I looked at him and I went, 'I'm alive next season,' and he goes, 'On your way, Lord Commander’." Harington also revealed that when he was told what would happen to Snow, he was warned by producers that he couldn't tell anyone not even family (although he did tell his mum and dad).

After Jon Snow’s fate was revealed on season six episode two, ‘Home’, Harington apologised to fans for keeping the secret. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly he said: “I’d like to say sorry for lying to everyone. I’m glad that people were upset that he died. I think my biggest fear was that people were not going to care.”

“Or it would just be, ‘Fine, Jon Snow’s dead.’ But it seems like people had a similar to the Red Wedding episode, kind of grief about it," he added. “Which means something I’m doing — or the show is doing — is right.”
