Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian are renting a $13.9 million mansion in the Hamptons.

The sisters will spend the summer in the luxury 9,000 square foot property on North Sea Harbour while filming 'Kourtney & Khloe Take The Hamptons' after owners of homes in more upscale areas reportedly refused to lease their homes to the reality stars.

The five-bedroom waterfront property also boasts a heated pool and dock and E! producers are expected to pay out around $300,000 to rent the house for the next few months.

According to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, many real estate brokers in the area refused to work with the show producers because they didn't want to upset locals who are worried about traffic and crowds, while some landlords in more upscale areas refused to rent their properties to the reality TV stars.

The sisters - along with Kourtney's partner Scott Disick and their children Mason, four, and Penelope, 20 months - are moving to the resort to set up a Dash store and recently found a base for the retail outlet after a lengthy search.

Restauranteur Irma Herzog - whose Driver's Seat Restaurant was investigated last year after an employee was diagnosed with hepatitis A - has risked the wrath of local residents in Southampton by ''betraying'' the upmarket village and leasing an art gallery space adjacent to her eatery to the sisters.

One outraged source said: ''Southamptonites are abuzz that Irma Herzog has betrayed their village . . . Will Irma also be bringing back another bout of hepatitis?

''Now she brings trash to her backyard. People are lining up to buy Irma's property and get her out of town. She is a piranha.''

It was previously claimed residents in the coastal spot were furious that the ''attention-seeking family'' were planning a new base in Southampton.
