From 'House Of Cards' to 'Elvis & Nixon'...
It looks like Kevin Spacey has really found his oeuvre. Not only is a playing a presidential candidate in 'House Of Cards' (which, by the way, returns to Netflix with season four in March), but now he's appearing as Richard Nixon in the forthcoming historical comedy 'Elvis & Nixon'.
Kevin Spacey is president again
It's almost like a full circle for Spacey; one of his first ever TV roles was as a US senator in a 1987 episode of 'Crime Story', and then 'House Of Cards' hit Netflix in 2013, earning him a Golden Globe Award as well as a Screen Actors Guild Award.
'They say we get the leaders we deserve. I think America deserves Frank Underwood. And in your heart, you know I'm right', comes the creepy campaign speech of Spacey's character in the season four trailer, a ruthless, selfish and manipulative congressman who has finally won power as the President of the United States.

But what about his newest movie, 'Elvis & Nixon'? Here he plays the 37th President in the 70s; and there's actually an uncanny physical similarity. It's the story about the unplanned arrival of King of Pop Elvis Presley at the White House in Washington DC; a man whom Nixon's aides thought would up his game significantly in terms of popularity with the people. This is a comedy take on the random event that sees Elvis become an unlikely undercover federal agent by his own choice. Michael Shannon plays Elvis, and, alas, he looks a lot less like his character than Spacey does his, but the accent and mannerisms are all down.
Directed by Liza Johnson, the movie is set to be released in the US on April 15th 2016, following the fourth season premiere of 'House Of Cards' on March 4th. We're still awaiting news on Spacey's presidential candidacy for the next election.
