Kevin Costner was perhaps the stand out among the many tributes that adorned the late Whitney Houston, reports CNN, as stars gathered at her televised funeral in Newark on Saturday, February 18th. Costner chose to remember her on the set of the film 'Bodyguard,' the film they starred in together that led way to perhaps her most well known hit 'I Will Always Love You.'
"We hadn't said four lines when we had to stop," Costner said, after Houston had come out of her dressing room 20 minutes late for the shoot, "I needed to know what she had done in those 20 minutes." The actor continued that she'd wiped off the studio makeup and put on her own which she normally wore for music videos and that it had melted under the studio lights, running down her face. "You weren't just pretty. You were as beautiful as a woman could be," Costner continued, adding "Whitney, if you could hear me now, I would tell you: You weren't just good enough. You were great. You sang the whole damn song [I Will Always Love You] without a band."
He continued, "A lot of leading men could have played my part, but you, Whitney, I truly believe, you were the only one who could have played Rachel Marin," finishing a touching address by stating "Escorted by an army of angels to your heavenly father. And when you sing before him, don't you worry. You'll be good enough."
