“There’s no better start to the day then eggs for breakfast,” that’s the message the American Egg Board is trying to send us, with its genius new campaign starring actor Kevin Bacon. As the star himself points out, the only thing that could make those eggs better is a side of bacon, though we’re not expecting to find the actor resting on our kitchen counter any time soon.

In the promotional video a wife is surprised to find Kevin Bacon lying on her counter one morning as she prepares some eggs for breakfast. "Nobody knows eggs better than bacon,” the actor says, before telling us he doesn’t like puns on his famous name.

Eventually Bacon gets busted as the wife’s husband walks in, but we’re pretty sure the Footloose star did his job of convincing the couple their morning wouldn't be right without the protein packed meal.

The video was produced by the American Egg Board who don't usually go the route of using Hollywood stars in their campaigns, but they felt the time was right for an edgier approach.

"Kevin Bacon brings real star power to the world of eggs and we think consumers are going to love this clever new version of bacon and eggs," Kevin Burkum, the American Egg Board's svp of marketing told Adweek.

"And there's no better time to talk about eggs with consumption at its highest level in three decades and Easter right around the corner.”

But with a last name like Bacon, the actor himself is of course a fan of eggs. “I'm excited to be a part of the new Incredible Edible Egg campaign," he said statement. "I like the creativity behind the idea, and I've always been a big fan of eggs. They're a nutritional powerhouse and I never get tired of them because there are so many ways you can eat them."
