Kerry Washington believes motherhood has made her life ''better.''

The 'Scandal' star welcomed her first child, daughter, Isabelle Amarachi, into the world with her husband Nnamdi Asomugha 11 months ago and insisted she's never been happier.

Speaking to PEOPLE.com, she said: ''It's [motherhood has] just made my life better in every way.''

However, the 38-year-old actress recently admitted it's too early to tell whether becoming a mother to the tiny tot has changed her.

She said previously: ''It's too early to tell. Maybe later I'll look back and have some of that figured out. But when you're in it, you're in it! And I'm so in it right now.''

The brunette beauty also feels lucky to have lots of famous friends to ask for parenting advice if she ever needs it.

She explained: ''I called up Connie Britton, who adopted her son when she started 'Nashville'. I emailed Jessica Alba. I have all these girls I have known for a long time. now we have a new chapter in our lives we can share ideas about.''

Meanwhile, Kerry may have a demanding globe-trotting career but she doesn't feel guilty about being a working mother.

She said: ''Women use this 'guilt' word a lot, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I know why it's the word that keeps coming up, but I can't co-sign on it yet. There has got to be a better way.

''You can't be all things to all people all the time, you have to experience your humanity, you have to know you are a limited vessel, and you can only do so much.''
