The 28-year-old rapper's latest album, 'To Pimp A Butterfly', has received widespread critical acclaim and he hopes the record will go down in history as a classic.
He told NME magazine: ''I wanted this record to be talked about the same was Bob Dylan or The Beatles or Jimi Hendrix are talked about.
''When my time has come, I want it to live longer than me, for the grandkids and their kids.''
The 'Alright' hitmaker previously sparked controversy with remarks he made following the police killing of Michael Brown that sparked civil unrest last summer - when he called for black people to have more respect for themselves - but he insists he would never ''apologise'' for any of his actions because whatever he does is his destiny.
He said of the row: ''I don't care. My life is already written. Everything I'm doing is a rerun of what God already played out for me - I don't do no apologies.
''Everything I said, I meant - period. Those who get it, they understand. Those are the people that need it.
''If you don't, then obviously you're not going through that, so you don't really care.''
