British actress Keira Knightley, who has been ridiculed over her slim and slender figure in the past, recently spoke out against the constant pressure women feel over their bodies due to the media's misrepresentation.

Knightley blames lazy photographers for not capturing all kinds of female figures

During a recent interview with The Times, the 29 year-old starlet claims photographers purposely don't capture different female forms as it is easier to take a photo of someone without any defining features.

"I think women's bodies are a battleground and photography is partly to blame. It's much easier to take a picture of somebody without a shape; it simply is," she said. "Whereas actually you need tremendous skill to be able get a woman's shape and make it look like it does in life, which is always beautiful. But our society is so photographic now, it becomes more difficult to see all of those different varieties of shape."

In September, Knightley posed topless for Interview magazine, only wearing a pair of black gloves and wide-legged trousers, which she didn't mind as long as the pictures capture her real body figure.

"I've had my body manipulated so many different times for so many different reasons, whether it's paparazzi photographers or for film posters," she explained. "And that [shoot] was one of the ones where I said: 'OK, I'm fine doing the topless shot so long as you don't make them any bigger or retouch.' Because it does feel important to say it really doesn't matter what shape you are."

Knightley can be next seen in 'The Imitation Game,' starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch.
