Katy Perry has beaten the likes of Miley Cyrus and Lady GaGa to the title of Best Female at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
Katy Perry has been crowned Best Female at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The 'Roar' hitmaker beat her pop rivals Lady GaGa, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift to the prestigious prize at the 20th annual ceremony in Amsterdam, the Netherlands this evening (10. 11.13).
The visibly shocked star told the audience as she accepted her award: ''Thank you, this is so cool. I was just sitting backstage with the artists drinking some champagne, thinking I'm not gonna win, I'm not gonna win ... And I won!''
She later told BANG Showbiz: ''I wasn't expecting to win actually, I was just sitting down having a glass of champagne, thinking I was being set up, and then they called my name and I was like 'What?' It was awesome.''
Eminem will no doubt be the biggest winner of the night, with the star due to receive both the Global Icon Award for his achievements in music, as well as the Best Hip-Hop prize thanks to his comeback album 'The Marshall Mathers LP 2'.
