Katy Perry has released the latest song from her upcoming third album, Prism, ahead of the release of the new album, which arrives on 22 October. 'Walking On Air' is yet another stylistic change for the singer in relation to her previous two Prism leaks, the pop-rock of 'Roar' and the trap-influenced 'Dark Horse,' with the new song taking on elements of club music to give fans another break from the norm.

The future dance-floor filler will no doubt be blasting out of nightclub speakers now that it has made it's way online, with the song every bit the David Guetta-esque standard of house track we've come to expect from chart acts today. The new song was produced by Klas Ahlund, a Swedish producer with no shortage of electro-pop proficiency, having worked with Robyn, Madonna, Vanessa Hudgens and more in the past.

The new single has been released ahead of recent comments from Perry when she said that her next album, the eventual follow-up to Prism, will be a much more subdued effort, reminiscent of Joni Mitchell. Given the bombastic nature of 'Walking On Air,' the singer will have some way to go before she can rightly compair herself to the 'Big Yellow Taxi' singer, but with the release of this song, and the potential for more club-appropriate songs on Prism, at least she's getting all of synth-fused songs out of her now.

Prism will be available to purchase on 22 October and you can listen to 'Walking On Air' now.
