Katy Perry has been named Elle Woman of the Year at the 2014 Elle Style Awards. Ms. Perry undeniably stole the show, looking fabulous as she accepted the award wearing a stunning Vivienne Westwood rose print dress. Kylie Minogue, who has won the award twice herself in the past decade, presented Katy with the award. Check out all our pictures from the Elle Style Awards.

The chart topping pop starlet is certainly deserving of her gong, having barely sat down to take a breather in 2013. Katy originally burst onto the scene in 2008 with her catchy hit I Kissed A Girl and has been a regular at the top of the charts ever since. Her whirlwind marriage to Russell Brand may have not worked out, but Katy didn’t let it slow her down.  2013 may have been Katy’s best year so far, and there’s a long list of reasons we can see that Elle had for choosing her to be their Woman of the Year!

In July 2013 Katy lent her voice to the animated character Smurfette for the second time, once again taking up her role in The Smurfs 2. Just a month later, in August 2013, the pop princess collaborated with Coty to release her now successful fragrance, Killer Queen (who doesn’t love the fierce Killer Queen advert when Katy kicks over the throne?!).

That very same month Katy’s single Roar off her number one selling album Prism topped the US charts. In September 2013 Katy pulled out a show-stopping performance (literally, it was at the end of the show) of Roar, which was filmed under the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City, for the MTV Video Music Awards. In February of this year Katy was named the 5th top global recording artist for 2013 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, unbeaten by any other female recording artists.

Despite 2013 being a spectacular, and very busy, year for Katy’s music career, she didn’t let this get in the way of her philanthropic work. In April she travelled to Madagascar with UNICEF to help children with nutrition and education, as well as appearing in the “Chime for Change” video campaign in a bid to promote female empowerment. Katy also hosted a huge charity event in October of 2013, with proceeds donated to the Young Survival Coalition, a charity set up to aid young women with breast cancer. Katy has since been named by UNICEF as a Goodwill Ambassador.

We don’t know about you, but there’s no one we can think of who deserves more to be recognised as Woman of the Year than Katy Perry. She’s basically an all-round babe. Congratulations, Katy!
