Katy Perry has come under fire from producer Dillon Francis who claimed the video for her new single 'Roar' is a ''rip off'' of his promotional clip for 'Messages'.
Katy Perry has been accused of ripping off the idea for her 'Roar' video.
Producer Dillon Francis has blasted the singer for the similarities between her new release and the promotional clip for his track 'Messages', both of which feature the lyrics displayed as text messages.
He tweeted: ''Damn first [Flo Rida] steals Diplo's 'Butters Theme' music idea now @katyperry steals my 'messages' music video idea..What the f**k? (sic)''
Despite seeming angry at the apparent copying, Dillon later wrote it was ''dope'' the 'Waking Up In Vegas' hitmaker found his ideas worth using, and insisted the sentiment was genuine.
He added: ''Legitimately this is so dope that @katyperry's director thought my video was good enough to rip off ... I'm not mad that last tweet was not sarcastic.''
'Roar' is the first single to be released from the star's upcoming album 'Prism', and Katy, 28, will perform it live at the MTV Video Music Awards later this month.
The track was written after a difficult year for the star, including her divorce from Russell Brand and she has described the track as therapeutic.
She previously explained: ''It's a bit of a self-empowering type of song.
''I wrote it because I was sick of keeping all these feelings inside and now speaking up for myself, which cause a lot of resentment.
''Obviously I've been through a lot of therapy since my last record and that's what this is about.''
