Former glamour model Katie Price has opened up about her split from Peter Andre, saying she was ''emotionally destroyed'' when they marriage ended in May 2009.
Katie Price was ''emotionally destroyed'' when she split from Peter Andre.
The 35-year-old star has admitted she struggled to rebuild her life after her three-and-a-half marriage to the 'Mysterious Girl' singer collapsed in May 2009 and describes it as her worst break-up.
In an interview with the new issue of Now magazine, she said: ''The only issue I've had was when me and Pete split. That's the only time I've cared ... It's taken ages [to get over it] because emotionally I was destroyed.
''Looking back, I don't know how I survived. I was slaughtered. Before that it was all a bit tongue-in-cheek and 'whatever'. It wasn't always nice, but when I was with Pete I was with his management [Claire Powell's Can Associates] as well and I thought they were my friends.''
Katie - who has two children, son Junior, eight, and six-year-old daughter Princess Tiaamii, with Peter, who also acts as stepfather to her child Harvey, 11, from a previous relationship - was ''really disappointed'' when things didn't work out with the reality TV star.
The brunette beauty - who met Peter, 40, when they appeared together on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!' - said: ''He's not the man I fell in love with. He used to think with his heart.''
Katie is confident her marriage to third husband Kieran Hayler - with whom she has a baby son Jett Riviera - will last because it isn't career focused like her romance with Peter.
The stunning star - who was also briefly married to Alex Reid - explained: ''Our jobs are separate. We (me and Kieran) go home and we're like a normal married couple, everything isn't documented.
''I think I'm more down to earth than people realise ... I'm vulnerable, gullible and I fall in love easily.''
