Katherine Jenkins is pregnant.

The 34-year-old opera singer is expecting her first child with husband Andrew Levitas, 37, and the pair will welcome a daughter into the world later this year.

The blonde beauty posted a photo of a pair of tiny pink shoes balanced on one of her wedding pictures on her Instagram page earlier today (13.04.15) and wrote alongside the image: ''Couldn't be more excited to meet our little girl! #MummyToBe #DaddyToBe #ArtProject #Collaboration #Family (sic)''.

She later added in a statement: ''We are overjoyed to be expecting our first child in the autumn. Starting a family and moving into this exciting phase of our lives is a blessing for which we are incredibly grateful. We eagerly await the arrival of our little girl!''

Katherine and Andrew married last September and she admitted shortly afterwards she ''couldn't wait'' to start a family with the American director.

She said: ''I can't wait to have kids. I can't wait for us to become a family if and when - God willing - that happens.''

And the Welsh star vowed to put her family ahead of her career.

She said: ''I really want children. The next question is 'How will I make the family dream happen?' I'm looking forward to that and I think it will be a challenge. I want to be able to put my children first.

''I think that's really hard to do when you're on the road.''
